Confusion

In the opening sentence it states that "Smith may refer to", but I ask what has Smith got to do with a page on Jennens? I get the feeling that it is a typo. Can someone explain to me if I am right or wrong and if so, what should we do about it to correct, simply changing Smith to Jennens should do I think?
