[edit]How on earth do people come up with the deposit? Do they take out a loan from the bank and then make monthly payments on the loan?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.75.144.138 (talk) 21:38, April 17, 2007 (UTC)
- I was wondering the same thing, I guess they just work and save up for it like one would for a vehicle. Since Korea has such great public transportation, you just put your 20 grand into an apt instead of a car. I guess if you look at it that way it's really smart. Fuel is paid for by your subway pass and you don't have to worry about maintenance of the vehicle. I was actually wondering how most Koreans get their key money because I am wanting to move there hence I ended up on this wiki. --74.193.163.3 (talk) 18:41, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- It depends! In the 20th century, because of extremely high-interest loans, many Koreans just saved up the money themselves for a deposit, Korea used to have a very high savings rate. In contemporary Korean markets, interest rates are very low, therefore many households take them out to pay for Jeonse. This works out because the interest paid on the loan each month is often less than market-rate rent. Kennethshoe (talk) 20:05, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
Variable interest rates
[edit]Hello, everyone. I have added information regarding household/mortgage loans in this section that might be helpful (source: http://www.segye.com/newsView/20210114516569). Please take a look and see if it's okay or if needs to be removed. Thank you! -- Wjddml (talk) 14:04, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
