This page was started on 19 September 2007 and by 25 September 2007 a number of different threads had developed. In order to make it easy to follow the discussions, I have grouped together the various threads under appropriate headings. I hope that everyone is in agreement with this but if I have broken any conventions then please let me know. Many thanks. ColinKing 05:53, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

General Amendments[edit]

Hi, Jigsaw puzzle accessories is my first page on Wikipedia - I think I've obeyed all the rules but there are rather a lot of them! I will be extremely grateful if anyone can suggest improvements, amendments or additions to the page. Also, I will be pleased to give explanations for anything that I have written. Although I have a commercial interest in jigsaw puzzle accessories I really don't want to do anything that is out of order. Many thanks ColinKing 15:24, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia! The article is well-written and well-sourced. At times it gets a little informal, but that's not a big deal. I'm not a huge puzzle-builder, but I found the statement about gluing puzzles sacraligious to be a little too strongly worded - considering how much glue is sold for this purpose, I think it was too general and I reworded it and took out the (non-encyclopedic) exclamation point. Thanks for contributing! CSZero 21:30, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
CSZero, Sincere thanks for your welcome and for your extremely helpful comments. I understand your point about the jigsaw glue and I am happy to agree to your suggested amendments. I will remember not too let my informality run away with me in the future! Once again, many thanks. ColinKing 14:23, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Categorization[edit]

Sincere thanks for your help on the jigsaw puzzle accessories page. I wander if you would be kind enough to help me with the categorization of the page..... After I wrote the article a message appeard at the bottom of the page stating that it needed to be added to a category. It seems logical to fit the page under "Puzzles" and so I have done that. However, (oddly!) the Jigsaw page is not categorized under "Puzzles" and to be honest I cannot come to grips with the way in which the Jigsaw page has been categorized. Any enlightenment would be very much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation ColinKing 16:11, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would just Be bold and do what seems right - as long as it's in good faith. It looks like the Rubik's cube is categorized under Puzzles and Mechanical Puzzles, so there's a precident for puzzles to be directly in categories and subcategories as well. I would put your article under both as well as tiled puzzles, - that seems correct to me. I would also put Jigsaw right under Puzzles. If you don't like the Tiled Puzzles/Mechanical Puzzles categorization, bring it up on the talk page. That seems like too established of a category to just remove however. Check the history. Is it one person's opinion, or is it by committee? Has that sort of change been done and reverted before? Nothing is permanent - do whatever. CSZero 18:43, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks CSZero, I will do some more research and then follow-up on each of your suggestions ColinKing 19:02, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Intellectual Property Rights[edit]

Forgive me if I do anything wrong, but my intention to become a useful Wikipedia contributor is in the pipeline, honest. Anyway, a useful article... but, really, the IP propaganda paragraph should surely be deleted. It has nothing whatsoever to do with puzzles, or puzzle equipment; it could be added by the IP propagandists to the description of just about any manufactured item. (Brian Chandler; I'm now going to type four tildes in a row, and see what happens... ) Imaginatorium 16:35, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Brian, well fancy meeting you here! The point that I was trying to make (although apparently not very coherently!) was that IP is a major consideration to companies investing in development AND in the World of jigsaw puzzle accessories it is extremely difficult to acquire. Let's be honest, none of the accessories are rocket science and patents on such basic ideas are virtually out of reach. Having said that, if you let me know which sentences you would like to see changed I will be pleased to go along with you (or argue violently depending upon how the mood takes me at the time!!) By the way, this four tildes jobbie seems to work a treat! Talk to you soon, Colin ColinKing 19:02, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
