Excuse me, I never edit wikipedia so I may be lacking some etiquette but will someone change the "8th century Bohemia". Robbins references a mostly but not-entirely christianized rome, so I'm thinking mid 4th century. Please, someone fix this. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.161.85.252 (talk) 00:13, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
The list of "popular quotes" seems too long and the actual quotes not popular enough. Moreover some are misquoted. The only quote from this book I've ever encountered anywhere else is "To achieve the marvelous, it is precisely the unthinkable that must be thought," and it's misquoted here as "To achieve the impossible..." How about changing the section title to "Memorable quotes" and culling the list down to, say, ten or less? And, of course, correcting them, perhaps with page numbers if anyone has an original edition. (Unfortunately this book doesn't have chapters.) 74.135.165.200 09:00, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Innacuracies?
[edit]Just some observations:
In India, he bumps into the adult incarnation of a child he used to know, Kudra, who goes on to become his wife.
Incarnation? I'm fairly certain that the child WAS Kudra.
Alobar is set down the path towards eternal life (which, according to Robbins, can be attained by a consistent ritual of sex and bathing).
Not just "sex and bathing". There was a ritual for each of the four elements. Earth -- diet, eating in small amounts multiple times a day, eating beets, and fasting fives days a month. Air -- learning to breathe properly, long, deep breaths, very similar to ancient Indian breathing techniques. Fire -- constant sex to "fool the body into believing it was just reaching sexual maturity". Water -- bathing, multiple times a day, at extremely high temperatures, and then allowing the body to rapidly cool.
she also juggles the unwanted advances of a lesbian co-worker, a brief affair with an eccentric millionaire obsessed with life extension
Unwanted? She was hesitant, but the advances were certainly reciprocated. :P And Pris had fallen in love with Dannyboy, I wouldn't call it a "brief affair".

Actually I would agree that the lesbian advances made by Ricki were not desired by Pris. She is definitely not repulsed, either. The affair with Dannybody is also "brief" because it lasts only a few months. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.223.87.35 (talk) 16:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
