Page title

[edit]

The page title is rubbish, the correct translation should be Johannes Kepler University of Linz. Interestingly, the website of this mediocre "university" does not even have an English version... --91.141.105.133 (talk) 09:48, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and don't even bother citing their old website at http://www.jku.at/index_e.htm where they used to call themselves Johannes Kepler University Linz – great English indeed: German-Version, Impressum, LVA-Search, Sowi - Faculty, Accomodation, Mensen... --91.141.105.133 (talk) 09:55, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
They'r currently creating a new page that will include an english version.
In German it would be absolutly unthinkable to add a von here, as this is not the University OF Linz, but "just" a University IN Linz - the correct way to express this in german is to leave away the adposition. This is also true for all (or most?) other universities in the German language area (de:Universität Wien, de:Humboldt Universität Berlin, de:Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, etc.) I can only argue about the German language here, if you think an of is needed here in English, I will not argue against it. --Wirthi (talk) 14:56, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wonderful examples indeed; see University of Vienna, Humboldt University of Berlin (official name in German: Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin), Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. By the way, I'm surprised to see that there are still "universities" on this globe which do not have an English website. --Alib (talk) 13:15, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As I wrote - misstranslations in my eyes (except HU Berlin perhaps), but I can be wrong. Ad englisch website: that's truly sad.But does your university have a German website? Or a Chinese? Why not? --Wirthi (talk) 14:54, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm...YOUR university will probably have a German website :-) --Wirthi (talk) 14:55, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid I do not concur with your view (misstranslations [sic]). --Alib (talk) 11:14, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The university calls itself the "Johannes Kepler University Linz". I have therefore moved the article to that name. I understand that one user doesn't like the name the university has chosen for itself.--K1812 (talk) 15:17, 26 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Old logo is obsolete

[edit]

Hello to everyone! The old logo is no longer in use since 2015. I assume it is just a mistake that is still used here. Therefore i changed it to the current used logo of the university. If there is a dispute about this, please let me know. Rick outa space (talk) 15:34, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear RaphaelQS! Where did you get the idea from that the old logo is still in use? The coat of arms is no longer used in any official purposes. It was part of the old logo design which was changed in 2015! Rick outa space (talk) 16:42, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Old official administrative signature - brand image (until 2015): https://www.jku.at/fileadmin/marketing/Impressum/Amtssignatur_Bildmarke_20101214.pdf
Current official administrative signature - brand image (since 2015): https://www.jku.at/fileadmin/marketing/Impressum/Amtssignatur_Bildmarke_20151215.pdf

Btw, besides the official brand image, there exist also an official logo which is also in use (a "k" turned on his back): https://help.jku.at/download/attachments/327682/global.logo?version=1&modificationDate=1503322000733&api=v2 Rick outa space (talk) 18:20, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
