Talk:Joseph Loxdale Frost
Family
[edit]On 31 October 1861 Frost married his brother Thomas, "of Liverpool", to Mary Ann Antwis, daughter of the later Samuel Antwis of Aston, Cheshire.[1] This is enough to identify Thomas with the father of Constance Frost, a "wealthy shipowner and merchant". It is known that with his family he later moved to New Zealand. I think Thomas Frost as a shipowner was known as "Thomas Frost jun.", which gives a number of hits. This page, which partially checks out against some newspaper research I have done, gives JL Frost six brother and a sister. JL Frost's grandfather[2] was a James Frost, timber merchant in Macclesfield. That page, though, doesn't have Lawrence's sister Hannah, who married Samuel Thorp (1791-1860), silk manufacturer in Macclesfield and its mayor. That connection would give JL Frost an uncle with a textile factory, which in context would certainly be interesting. Charles Matthews (talk) 16:17, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
