Initial review
[edit]I've done a quick read through and I've formed the opinion that this article is at GA-class. I'm therefore doing a more detailed review and I've found a few very minor defects:
- Geography - a citation is needed for "Mount Kanchenjunga at 8,591 m (28,186 ft) the world's third tallest peak".
- Economy - we have a verifiable citation for "the Indian government's proposal to reopen the Nathu La pass in April 2006.", but it will soon by March 2009, so an update is needed, i.e. did it open in 2006, postponed, etc?
- Civic administration - The following statements, are unsupported by verifiable citations: "Two lakes atop the Deolo Hill provide potable water to the town. Owing to severe rains that wash away most of the surface, the condition of the roads is poor. The state electricity board provides electricity to Kalimpong and although the town does not face power shortfalls, the electrical supply is unstable, so voltage stabilisers are necessary. Street lighting is available only in the main town centre."
- Media and education - The following statements, are unsupported by verifiable citations:
- "Kalimpong receives almost all the television channels that are received in the rest of India. Cable Television serves most of the homes in the city, while satellite television is more common in the outlying areas. Besides mainstream Indian channels, Kalimpong also receives local Nepali language channels. Newspapers in Kalimpong include English language dailies, The Statesman and The Telegraph, which are printed in Siliguri, and The Hindu and the Times of India which are printed in Kolkata (Calcutta).".
- "BSNL provides a limited form of broadband connectivity of up to 128 kbit/s with DIAS (Direct Internet Access Service) connections. The public radio station, All India Radio is the only radio channel received in Kalimpong."
I will do one more detailed check of the references, but at this stage I'm putting the article On Hold.Pyrotec (talk) 17:37, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- Response from User:GDibyendu
I have provided refs for these sentences (with some modifications, as supported by those refs). However, I could not find refs for the following four; if needed these can be removed:
- "Kalimpong receives almost all the television channels that are received in the rest of India."
- "Cable Television serves most of the homes in the city, while satellite television is more common in the outlying areas."
- "Besides mainstream Indian channels, Kalimpong also receives local Nepali language channels."
- "The public radio station, All India Radio is the only radio channel received in Kalimpong."
