I'm redirecting this page to Karakorum (Mongolia), as it serves no useful purpose as a disambiguation page. Karakorum and Karakoram are distinct spellings for distinct places, Kharkhorin is the same place as Karakorum, and the Karakoram highway and pass are linked from Karakoram. The only reason this page exists at all is because back in 2004 there were two pages on the same place: Karakorum and Karakorum (Mongolia). There are major factual differences between the two - there seems to be a lot of misinformation in these pages - but unless two different Mongolian cities with very similar names each served at capitals for 30 years in the 13th century, they're clearly the same place. As for the easy confusion between Karakorum and Karakoram, that can easily be dealt with with a disambiguation notice at the top of each page.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about Mongolia, this is all based purely on common sense and a quick web search to check facts, so if I'm horribly mistaken please revert!

Of course, Karakorum (Mongolia) ought to be titled simply Karakorum, but that will have to be done through Wikipedia:Requested moves. --Blisco 19:10, 17 August 2006 (UTC) edited 17:44, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
