After reviewing several articles reference on this page regarding Austrailian football, the only reference for a key position was ambiguous at best. I did note that a Utility player is one that is of key importance to the team because that person is able to play multiple positions with expertise and ease. I believe using this vague and most widely used term to specify Austrailian football gives the phrase an importance that is not warranted. This is simply clutter for the internet and is in itself a non-defining term but one that is used widely to describe any position of importance to include a Striker for soccer, a Quarterback for American football, a Pitcher for baseball.
