Episode guide

[edit]

The episode guide is not appropriate for a character page. Episode synopses belong on episode pages. Shannernanner 09:39, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    • Then how about we move the content to a new page rather than deleting it without any regard to the previous contributors. Although I contributed the bulk of the content, I am not the only person to do so, and for you to simply delete it because it is inappropriate content is, in my opinion, rude and violates wikipedia policies for good-faith page edits. If I create a separate Kirk Jobs by Episode page and link to it from the Kirk Gleason page, are you going to object to that also? Alchemistmatt 02:12, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing about assuming good faith requires an editor to keep edits which are not appropriate for an article. The episode guide was largely blank or contained non-notable information ("Kirk seen drinking coffee at Luke's"); any notable information should be added to the individual episode pages. The way I see it (and the reason I added this information to Wikipedia) is that the advantage of having Kirk's jobs listed on a single page is that one will not need to go through each of the episode pages to browse Kirk's jobs. Additionally, since most of the episodes do not have actual pages, there largely isn't a place to list this information. The only reason I linked to each episode (including the non-existent pages) is that somebody had created placeholder links in Spring 2006 for all of the episodes, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to include them here -- obviously, you feel that is inappropriate. I see your point that having empty table rows can be considered inappropriate, so we can go ahead and delete the episodes for which Kirk did not appear. I will do as I suggested above and create a separate Kirk Jobs page, excluding episodes without Kirk. As for the non-notable information, it's simply a way of mentioning that Kirk was in the episode but didn't hold an official job. For those episodes where Kirk did hold a job, one could argue that the "seen drinking coffee" observation is irrelevant and non-notable. Alchemistmatt 06:21, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's not necessary to create another page. If the information belongs any where in a single group, it is on his page; it is not so large of an article to necessitate a sub-article. If you feel that the information is more accessible in one area, I'll clean it up and return it. Shannernanner 07:33, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the clean-up -- it's now a nice and tidy table, though I miss having the season information. I think I'll add a link to the episodes page. Alchemistmatt 04:51, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. Shannernanner 08:16, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
