incomprehensible

First, wood has historically been a principal building material of many northern Ontario indigenous peoples, and the aim of providing a culturally relevant building influenced the selection of wood and other material components on this project.[1]

is paraphrased as "As well, the selection of mass timber construction was dedicated by the embedded history of northern Ontario Indigenous peoples and sustainability." I supposed the writer meant "dictated by" in stead of "dedicated by", but even then, it still doesn't make sense. May I suggest: "The reasons behind the decision to use mass timber construction were threefold: Making the building culturally relevant by using a material used by northern Ontario indigenous peoples, supporting the mandate to embed indigenous perspective into the curriculum and showcasing engineered wood products".
