Reason it works

[edit]

The article may also want to mention why the method works. MP (talk) 09:46, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lattice method

[edit]

There is no reasonable reference why lattice method is merged with Shabakh. However, there is research that shows lattice method was invented by Al-Khwarizmi in the 9th century. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.109.98.30 (talk) 16:37, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mayan Multiplication

[edit]

I don't know if it should fall under the same article or it should be a "see also", but the Mayans used a multiplication technique that is substantially similar to this.

The multiplicand is written across the x axis from right to left, and the multiplier is written up the y axis from bottom to top. The sum of each row/column is created in a grid, then that sum is "swept" into a single diagonal that crosses the grid. The result is normalized (base 20 sub 5) then the product is read vertically from bottom right to top left of the diagonal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.172.76.114 (talk) 02:39, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
