Contested deletion

This page should not be speedily deleted because... this was an event that made history. It was the first FAA approve drone delivery in the United States of America. It is historic and needs to be included in the wikipedia index. --208.253.114.165 (talk) 14:58, 17 August 2015 (UTC)akilgore[reply]

The article (and its sources) are not precisely clear. This is not an FAA-approved program, but rather an FAA-sponsored research program. The event represents one step in the ongoing research into the safe use of drones within US airspace. As such, it might serve as a bullet point in an article on the larger topic of drones, but I don't believe it deserves its own article. However, as the event garnered some amount of press, I don't believe speedy deletion is in order and will move to AFD instead. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:17, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This page should not be speedily deleted because...Let's Fly Wisely was a historical event. Never before had a drone delivery been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration in the United States. The Let's Fly Wisely event, held on July 17, 2015 made history in Wise, Virginia by all parties involved. The first drone delivery was for research and demo purposes to demonstrate how Unmanned Aerial Systems can be utilized; in this specific case, in order to delivery medications and health care. I do not believe this needs to be deleted but expanded upon. --Ajkilgore (talk) 15:19, 17 August 2015 (UTC)akilgore[reply]
