Opening comment[edit]

I favour the term light sculpture over light art, does anyone have views? Research Method (talk) 00:48, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The two terms cover almost the same subject matter, with 'light art' being more general and 'light sculpture' being more specific. I think having two articles will be waste of time, on the other hand it might encourage more editors to join in. I would recommend merging and making a redirect.--Thorseth (talk) 06:52, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That might not be a bad idea. But the light art article is too much gallery and too little article — see WP:IG. —David Eppstein (talk) 07:24, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see your point, but that will not be changed by this article, as of now this basically just a list of artists, which is not very encyclopedic. For starters some notable light sculptures should be described, interesting development and stuff like that. As it is now there is no need for two articles.--Thorseth (talk) 10:26, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What is light sculpture?[edit]

Are iconic signs like Vegas Vic or the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign light sculptures? Vegaswikian (talk) 20:18, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not in the sense used in this article: they are commercial art rather than fine art. But I think that's the only reason why not. —David Eppstein (talk) 21:13, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Can you look at the category structure and see if there is a better way to include those signs. They really do represent an art form. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:21, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

time based[edit]

What is meant by the statement that Light sculpture is "time based?" Bus stop (talk) 18:13, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
