What is an "infantry support gun"?

[edit]

"Infantry support" means eliminating enemy threats to friendly infantry, but this may be enemy personnel, armored fighting vehicles, unarmored fighting vehicles, fortifications, aircraft, vessels etc...
This may be by targeting the enemy at short range with line of sight fire or at long range with non line of sight fire.
When we talk about "infantry guns" we usually refer to gun mounts, towed or self-propelled, which are designed to fire explosive shells only at short range but are incapable to defeat enemy armor.
The other option is that "infantry guns" in Wikipedia will be only guns that can be carried by dismounted personnel. at least when the gun is broken into multiple parts.
So What is an "infantry gun"?
