United Kingdom restrictions

The restriction on recruitment does not limit applications to the Commonwealth - Irish Citizens are also eligible to apply, as they have full citizenship rights in the UK. 221.33.114.1 (talk) 12:44, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

The US recruits foreigners all the time, often granting citizenship after service. Why are they not listed?

Added a short mention of it - basically, foreigners can join the US military with permanent residence status granted by a green card. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.76.46.236 (talk) 05:30, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Commonwealth nations

Commonwealth citizens can apply for the British Armed Forces, but it is not vice-versa:

  • Australia now only recruits citizens. Permanent residents may get a waiver if the position they are applying for cannot be filled by a citizen. Commonwealth citizen status as a requirement was never stated.
  • Canada only recruits citizens, or non-citizens in extreme cases
  • South Africa only recruits citizens
  • New Zealand may recruit non-commonwealth citizens, but only in a non-deployable status

Australian Defence Forces

Removed Australia because only citizens can enlist. See: Citizenship in the ADF — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.219.207.46 (talk) 23:44, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

I have heard of Serving British transferring over to the ADF but only if they have the rank of Sergeant (NCO's)/Captain (CO's). Also is it possible for a commonwealth citizen who has served in the French Foreign Legion to join the ADF?.

I have read the ADF website and they are currently seeking foreigners with prior military service to fill gaps in their military they are not being met by their normal recruiting. The list of jobs is specific and they want you to already be trained in the job you are applying for so they will not have to spend time training you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.94.173.234 (talk) 19:54, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

United Kingdom - commonwealth soldiers dont need to live here for 5 years?

i dont want to edit the article incase i'm not correct but the article states

From 2013, all Commonwealth citizens except for those from Ireland, Cyprus, and Malta must have resided for 5 years in the UK before being allowed to join.[21]

Joining the British Army from overseas Commonwealth overseas applicants can apply online. The recruiting process will be conducted in the UK. To find out more use the links in the right-hand column. You must have the right to remain in the UK throughout the recruiting process. There are about 7000 Commonwealth citizens serving in the British Army from outside the UK. They serve on the same terms of service as UK citizens and receive the same, pay, allowances, compensation and pensions. To find out more use the links in the right-hand column. Gurkhas are soldiers recruited in Nepal to serve in the British Army. Selection takes place every December at Pokhara, in the centre of the country. Standards are high and 176 young men are selected to do their military training and join one of the specialist Gurkha units in the UK. Their roles include infantry soldiering, signals, logistics and engineering. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.98.178.129 (talk) 15:34, 21 August 2015 (UTC)

UKRAINE ARMY Recruiter

I'm a us citizen and I want to join the Ukraine Army till the end of my services. And after my military service time is over I want to become a Ukrainian citizen. I want to start a new life as a Ukraine citizen. I'm sorry America citizens but this is my decision. All the US has done to me not for me was wrong, so now I have a chance to do something with life. Without being accused of something I didn't do. At least the Ukraine is willing to help me. All I need is a ride over. Working on it now. 74.126.76.27 (talk) 00:25, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

Serbian armed forces?

This article seems to state that foreigners are accepted in the Serbian military - but the official government page here says that 'The service in the Serbian Armed Forces can be performed only by citizens of the Republic of Serbia'. Might someone be able to fix this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.6.206.243 (talk) 22:34, 16 February 2017 (UTC)

Canada

There is no citation at all about foreign citizens membership in the Canadian Armed Forces. Whoever put the information there might be right, but from all the open sources available, there is no indication that a non-Canadian citizen is allowed to enroll in the CAF. The official CAF site clearly states that citizenship is a requirement, for Officers and NCMs alike[1]. I therefore remove Canada from the list. Jusfiq (talk) 15:33, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Bahrain

Is it really that Bahrain recruits Sunni foreigners in Bahrain Defense Forces. Because the source which used here is a Shia website and this could be biased. عمر خالد 8888 (talk) 14:55, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

Do you have any reason to believe that the source is unreliable, other than just "the source which used here is a Shia website", or an alternative, reliable source which contradicts it? -- Begoon 06:05, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
