[edit]Is the inventor of four square really from here?
"...the n-word..."
[edit]Despite Attorney Roy Miller notability isn't verified I changed the description from "having the word n-word deleted from a major dictionary" to "having the word "nigger" deleted from a major dictionary".
I did this firstly because the euphemisms made the sentence confusing, as he mostly likely didn't delete "the n-word" from the dictionary, but instead deleted the word "nigger".
Secondly I did this because Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia and should thus threat everything from a neutral point of view, even if it describes something bad, vulgar or wrong. If we start to censor words and concepts just because some people finds them bad (or in this case: hopefully everyone that doesn't have a good reason) Wikipedia will start to lose its truthfulness and reliability as a neutral source of information.
The change should also conform with these policies:
- Wikipedia:Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_censored
- Wikipedia:Offensive material
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Words to watch#Vulgarities, obscenities, and profanities
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Words to watch#Expressions that lack precision#Euphemisms
- Wikipedia:Neutral point of view
Lastly. As I'm not native to American history or culture and the English language I'm unsure about the exact word "the n-word" is referring to. I chose this word based on the article n-word. Can someone please correct it if I made a mistake? --Christoffre (talk) 00:14, 26 December 2013 (UTC)
