As a member of the team that developed Live Clipboard, I have a few comments about the article:

  1. The name of the technology is "Live Clipboard" not "Windows Live Clipboard"
  2. The example page referenced at the end of the article stopped working for a period of time due to a server misconfiguration. The page is now repaired and does work in IE7 and Firefox 2.
  3. Although admittedly, adoption has been somewhat slower than anticipated, Microsoft definitely has not discontinued the idea. For now, here are two existing implementations of Live Clipboard in real applications:
  • Eventful - Copy events using Live Clipboard.
  • Windows Live Writer - Has an SDK enabling developers to create plug-ins that handle any type of data pasted into a blog post using Live Clipboard. One example is the Event Plugin for Windows Live Writer - Enables pasting of events into blog posts using Live Clipboard.

To illustrate these applications of Live Clipboard, I created a screencast that demonstrates how to copy an event from Eventful.com and paste it into a blog post in Windows Live Writer.
