Some improvements/additional material
[edit]This page should discuss the topologically distinct extensions of absolute values for finite extensions of locally compact fields and the conjugacy classes of embeddings. See last 2 paragraphs of page 11- page 12 of Nancy Childress "Class Field Theory". This has some very useful material. Also, the rings of integers (page 10) and uniformizers should be discussed on this page. Also, pages 12-18 of 978-3-642-07908-5 (class field theory from theory to practice) gives an excellent overview of this material as well, giving some good commentary and extensions.
