Lordy, Lordy[edit]

If we've just carefully removed the honorific from Baroness Jean Corston, why have we introduced it here? In addition, down here in the Vale, the tower on the Cotswold Edge is just the 'Somerset Monument' or 'Somerset Memorial'. Bob aka Linuxlad 07:15, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If I may jump in, because 'Lord' is considered a part of the persons name - not a style than can be added to the name in some circumstances. See WP:MOS Alci12 12:02, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In that case it's discriminatory to deprive say Jean C of her Barony, since barons are also Lords I think (see Richard Beeching, aka Lord Beeching, aka Baron Beeching). All I see on a quick look at Jean_Corston was a change in accordance with the MoS of The Right Honourable Jean Ann Corston, Baroness Corston to Jean Ann Corston, Baroness Corston. If you mean the rename of the page then it redirects to the same article if you search by her title or name and that the article has the correct opening line either way. If you mean you expected Baroness Jean Corston should be the opening then that's a misunderstanding of peerage formats. She is Baroness Corston or Jean Ann Corston, Baroness Corston but not title forename surname which is wrong for any substantive title but is correct for certain courtesy titles - which is why this article is so named. Just as I managed to get some spare time after work and write a reply for my move, you took most of the words out of my mouth, Alci - thanks :-). That sorted, was he known as Lord Edward or Lord Robert? EB 1911 lists him with his full name of Lord Robert Henry Somerset and that's the only external link I've been able to find on him.
