Title
[edit]There are many, many ways this article could be named, but I've gone for Lupin the Third Part I because it's used by both TMS Entertainment on their English webpage, and again by TMS on their Hulu videos. Secondly using "The Third" is consistent with the Fujiko series. Similarly using Part I,II,III also helps give the pages a consistency across Wikipedia. Dandy Sephy (talk) 22:19, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
Quick assessments
[edit]I failed B2 since I believe there are more than two reviews available for usage. You can argue for a pass if you believe I am wrong. Other things noted.
- Wording is vague in a few places. I'll note this one. "The series was originally broadcast as Lupin III" Was it rebroadcast as Part 1?
- I'm not sure if animation mistakes should be noted.
- There are all these loose sentences or two-sentence mini paragraphs floating about. You can combine them and rewrite to improve the flow.
- I suggest excluding a grading scheme or numerical value for reception.
- A few of these are a consequence of it still being WIP. I've not found more than the 2 "proper" RS reviews so far but can also get comments from a few books. I did find another review that is debatable as an RS but I'll have to look into it. Some of the wording and "looseness" will be fixed as the article develops further, there is some information that I need to source before adding and some I need to prose from notes. I won't push for a B pass until I've exhausted the chances for expansion (I have several major sources to expand/include). Dandy Sephy (talk) 11:38, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
Outside of the assessment, was it necessary to have an anime article for this series? It might be possible to give the series a structure like Rozen Maiden. DragonZero (Talk · Contribs) 11:16, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I think it is and I deliberately waited until I knew I could make an article that would stand alone. The franchise already has a lengthy article to cover it but due to the sheer volume of material it has to cover means that everything has to be glossed over. The first series is historically important for several reasons, has influenced several creators and has a well detailed and troubled development. Trying to mash four different anime series into one article won't work in this case. I think that if any anime series can stand separate from it's franchise on WP, Lupin has one of the best chances of any article.Dandy Sephy (talk) 11:38, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- No problem, it wasn't my intention to force a merge or anything like that. DragonZero (Talk · Contribs) 11:57, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

"The Classic Adventures"?
[edit]I've noticed that the title of this page was moved from "Lupin the Third Part I" to "Lupin the 3rd Part I: The Classic Adventures" a while ago, but I don't think this is the title that should be used. The Discotek Blu-Ray uses "The Classic Adventures" as a subtitle after "Episodes 1-23", which is clearly meant to signify that this is the original anime series while not literally making it part of the the title. If it was, then why wouldn't the title be "Lupin the 3rd Part I: Episodes 1-23–The Classic Adventures"?
The older DVDs for the anime carry the full title on the cover as "Lupin the 3rd–The Complete First TV Series", but TMS' official website (where I found the DVD cover) mentions the actual title of the show as "Lupin the 3rd Part 1", and that make sense to me. This isn't the case of whether or not to use a retronym like "Star Trek: The Original Series" as opposed to just "Star Trek", it's understanding the difference between series' actual titles and supplemental subtitles which come on release covers. So I believe that this page should be moved to "Lupin the 3rd Part 1". DishonorableKnight (talk) 04:04, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
- I agree. It's not a case of needing a disambiguation either, as the article already had "Part I" in the title. A similar move without discussion was done at Lupin the 3rd Part III: The Pink Jacket Adventures. There's a bunch of different options and ways to write/spell this show's title, so maybe a larger discussion would be good, but the current title is definitely not the way to go. - If there was no discussion for the change of any of these titles (Part I, Part III, etc.), I think they should be reverted to what they originally were. DishonorableKnight (talk) 22:54, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
- I also agree. "The Classic Adventures"/"The Pink Jacket Adventures" come off as names of specific Blu-ray releases at best - and we do not need the additional disambiguation in any case.--AlexandraIDV 23:23, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
- I went ahead and moved them both to more concise titles without subtitles. I used "3rd" in both as per Discotek's home video releases, and kept "Part I" here per their blu-ray release to disambiguate. Xfansd (talk) 18:47, 8 April 2023 (UTC)
