This is seriously broken. The citation for how old the team is references the sport of Rugby -- entirely different.
I'm not sure of the history offhand. They didn't have a team when I was there in the '70's, and were proud of it.

Ah, it seems The Tech didn't pay football any mind until they started winning. The answer is to be found on the MIT News website and the New York Times
