Conflicting information about race and Maben Schools.[edit]

This gentleman [1] talks about integrating Maben Schools. A book by Dr. Charles Bolton mentions black kids being bused from Sturgis to Maben...I don't have the book in hand at the moment. Maybe there was a different black school in Maben? Please help with any information you have. Thanks! Jacona (talk) 18:28, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

This article has it backwards. Maben High School was all-white. Its sports teams were called the Blue Devils. There was a separate school on the other side of town that was all-black and its sports teams were known as the Wizards. When integration was announced, someone burned down the original Maben High School. (This event received national news coverage.) When the school was rebuilt, it was integrated and grades 7-12 attended here. The all-black school became an elementary school and covered grades 1-6.
