John Savage
[edit]There's reference to what is obviously in context this building in Hartwell et al. The Buildings of England series (pp 449, 460) as being the house of John Savage. Can anyone shed any light on this? I'm particularly interested as I've written an article on Macclesfield Town Hall, which apparently has stones from this building in its courtyard, and would like to DYK it on this fact but the house is referred to as "John Savage's fortified town house".
