I don't know who dicided to make up the facts, but Manx Telecom has kept the island connected for over 120 years, so I don't know HOW it could have been founded in 1986.

Manx Telecom as an entity came into being in 1986. Services before 1986 were provided by the following companies, in chronological order:

• The Isle of Man Electric Telegraph Company (1859-1869)
• The General Post Office (1869-1985) (telegraphy)
• The General Post Office (1889-1891) (telephony)
• The National Telephone Company (1891-1912) (telephony)
• The General Post Office (1912-1985) (telephony)
• British Telecommunications (1985-1986)
• Manx Telecom as an independent entity (1986-2001)
• Manx Telecom as a subsidiary of O2 (2001-2006)
• Manx Telecom as a subsidiary of Telefónica O2 (2006-2008)
• Manx Telecom as a subsidiary of Telefónica Europe (rebranding) (2008-present)
