Article improvements
[edit]The concept of a litany does, of course, deserve an entry in Wikipedia. However, having looked at this article, I think improvements, and alas, work is needed here.
The three issues I see are:
- This is mostly about the history of the history of the Litany of Loreto, and almost entirely comes from the Cath encyclopedia.
- There are other litanies beside Loreto that should be mentioned.
- Litanies are also an important part of Eastern orthodox practices and that topic has not been addressed.
I suggest that parallel development of Catholic and Eastern Orthodox practices be clarified and specially the important role of litanies within the Eastern Orthodox liturgy be discussed.
Do Anglicans use any litanies at all? I do not know, and that should be clarified.
I have been fixing the article Hymns to Mary and it may even make sense to do something regarding the relationship therein, given the fact that some hymns are used as hymn litanies, specially in the Eastern church.
I have other things to do now, but help on fixing these issues will be appreciated. History2007 (talk) 09:39, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
