Why is this page relevant at all? It reads like like an advert made by the family itself. We should check the IPs, as it seems to me they themselves or a third party company hired by them wrote this article

[edit]When did the McCormicks get out of the paper, if they did?
Also, what support do we have for the "fact" that the McCormick family tried to "break the bonds of slavery"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.78.70.122 (talk) 00:14, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
- I went ahead and removed the claim re slavery. The closest I can find to an explanation is that apparently the McCormick reaper is often credited with giving the North an edge in the Civil War by freeing up labor to fight. But Timothy Taylor (economist) provides a pretty thorough takedown of that idea. Even if the reaper did provide the North with some sort of advantage in the war, it's a stretch at best to say it helped "break the bonds of slavery". https://conversableeconomist.blogspot.com/2017/04/dont-fear-mccormick-reaper.html Severinus (talk) 05:56, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
