Proposed merge of McLaren C8 article

[edit]

The C8 had a past as a Group 7 M8FP according to chassis record. It started life being a customer M8.

According to WSRP, it was raced by Helmut Kelleners and Michel Weber in Interserie 1972 and 1973. Since 1975 raced by Hoffman (Interserie, Supersports Cup). Rebuilt as a closed group C car with Lotec bodywork in 1982 but later reverted back to Can-Am car for Supersports races.[1]

There are several things that the article failed to mention; according to chassis history, it had a moderately successful career at the Interserie with its first owner. The 2nd owner (Hoffmann) had an okay career with the car before it became a Group C car. Further research tells you that the car still does exist in its old form. As with notability, why should it be notable when it had its Group C racing career as a backmarker. Most privately built backmarkers such as that car are not notable.[2][3] SpacedFarmer (talk) 21:33, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
