Problem with graph

[edit]

At least one of the graphs, people living on less than $1 per day, is missing some key information. According to page 13 of the source listed with the graph [1] it is actually a measure of people living on $1.08 USD at 1993 PPP, and then adjusted for inflation in each country. On page 16 the study also discusses that there has been an increase in the number of people living below $2 a day (the $1.08 USD at 1993 PPP is defined as "extreme poverty," and $2 is defined as "poverty"). It seems to be a distortion to just provide a graph showing one trend but not the other in a discussion of measuring poverty. It is also a wikipedia user generated graph, in any case. I propose that it be deleted. Notmyrealname 21:53, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is poverty decreasing?

[edit]

We could use some more eyes on this: Talk:List_of_common_misconceptions#poverty. Also, there is the question of whether the proposed misconception should be added to this or another article on poverty. --David Tornheim (talk) 02:01, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
