Map

[edit]

Hi TagaworShah, good job on the article. On the issue of the map, the source you cited for it (Армен Карагезян, "К локализации гавара Кашатаг") has a map of the gavar on page 41, where it does not extend much further south than Sev Lich. On page 40, the author writes: На территории древнего-гавара Алаэчк (Лачииский район Азербайджанской ССР)[...], equating Aghahechk/Աղահէճք, which later took on the name Kashatagh, with the former Lachin District of the Azerbaijani SSR (same territory as the current Lachin District of Azerbaijan). So it would make more sense to say that Kashatagh was approximately equal to the Lachin District rather than the large Kashatagh province. (I am assuming that Հայաստանի եւ հարակից շրջանների տեղանունների բառարան is correct in saying that the Melikdom of Kashatagh encompassed the same territory as the gavar.) You can also consult map 144-145 of Hewsen's Armenia: A Historical Atlas for a visualization (let me know if you need a picture). Best, Revolution Saga (talk) 17:28, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for clarifying, do you have a good picture of the Lachin district borders by itself which can be substituted for the image currently in the article? Best, TagaworShah (talk) 22:43, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is the best that I could find on Wikimedia Commons [1]. Maybe someone who is more experienced with maps can make something better. Best, Revolution Saga (talk) 23:31, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This one should do for now, thanks for the help! Best, TagaworShah (talk) 03:31, 19 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
