Messianic Democracy

[edit]

is not remotely the same as Totalitarian Democracy. How did it get connected to the writings of Talmon? Messianic Democracy is based on the inspired use of dreams and visions (Numbers 12:6) for leadership and governance, and is related to the mandate of heaven. I see no connection between them. 67.225.52.80 (talk) 07:25, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Broke up article, tagged section in relation to Iraq War & the "War on Terror" as being POV.

[edit]

First, I'm assuming that the section containing Talmon's description of the term isn't the part that editors regard as being OR or being uncited. So, I removed the tag from the article in general, and applied it to only the part of the article related to the Iraq War. If I'm incorrect, and editors intended for the tags to be applied to both the description by Talmon and the section on the Iraq War & War on Terror, then please correct.

Second, I applied the original research, uncited, and POV tag to the section about the Iraq War and the "War on Terror".

Now, I have to say that from my personal point of view, I might very well agree with the section about the Iraq War being the product of a messianic mindset among Mr. Bush's advisors. But my personal POV is immaterial to the matter at hand. WP is not my soapbox; neither is it anyone else's.

If we're going to give this subject an encyclopedic treatment, let's at least get some sources in here, write from neutral point of view, and remove any original research. Seymour Hersch's excellent article for the NYT from 2004 which contains a statement from a Bush adviser along the lines of "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality" might be a great place to start a serious discussion of the phenomenon.
