2001

[edit]

What is the meaning of the "2001: A Space Odyssey"-Reference? Is it just a gag or is there a deeper meaning/connection to the character Mike? --87.149.77.56 (talk) 22:17, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Do we really need an internal link to "Stupid" from the word "dull"? Seems like a mindless edit to me...

I'm not saying that it's a bad thing to link things to and from wikipedia, but do we need to link every other word in the sentence? It makes it look like those other encyclopedia-wannabe pages out on the internet... Kareeser 02:19, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Book Illustration

[edit]

Does anyone know where an illustration of this character can be found from Quention Blake's drawing of the novel? It should be added... JackOfHearts 00:42, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mumbling Mike

[edit]

Mike as a mumbler came from the book. Added that reference in the film version. Ronyu02 07:07, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect video game

[edit]

"Mike is shown playing Unreal Tournament on his Playstation 2, and screaming, "Die! Die! Die!" The video game depicts blowing up zombies."

The game certainly does not look like Unreal Tournament and there are no Zombies neither in Unreal Tournament. The game looks much more like Gears of War. Need someone else to verify this, I'm new and do not wish to make an incorrect change. If I don't get an answer on this talk page I will make the change. --Sachaztan 01:08, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

*edit* Just read that you should be bold and you can not mess anything up so I'm making the change

Denver Colorado

[edit]

I'm wondering if we should mention the possibility that the location for Mike in 2005 was Denver and that it may be a slight allusion to nearby Littleton...and thus by extension Columbine, as a reference to Mike's violent tendencies. Any thoughts on this?--ip.address.conflict 20:28, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Something odd

[edit]

Mike's vice is that he watches too much TV, but isn't that kind of anachronistic to when the story was originally written? In the late 50s there was next to nothing ON TV. you MIGHT be able to watch Howdy Doody every weekday if you got there on time (and indeed the original book version has him dressed as a cowboy). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.122.63.142 (talk) 20:46, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mike's song is a contradiction to his character; if TV makes a child stupid, Mike should be very dull (but he is in fact exceptionally gifted) --87.149.77.56 (talk) 22:30, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
