Washington, Milan[edit]

Interestingly enough there is also a neighbourhood in the Italian city of Milan called "Washington", making it Washington, Milan as opposed to Milan, Washington. Not sure if there's any direct link between these too, though I sincerely hope there is one. pr0n[edit]

The article previously began with the unsourced

({{IPAc-en|ˈ|m|aɪ|l|ən}} {{respell|MY|lən}})

which should only be included once it is sourced to a WP:RS. (No, your aunt doesn't really count.) There are several American towns and villages mispronounced that way but a every online guide to 'weirdly pronounced' Washington settlements pointedly doesn't mention the local Milan and b half the time Wikipedia thought the pronunciation was my-lun but once an actual source or video is checked it turns out they were just mishearing/mistranscribing my-lynn, based on the nasalization/drawling of the original short A sound. — LlywelynII 09:55, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
