David James reference
[edit]David James' description of how Mothlight was made is completely inaccurate. Mothlight was not made with 35mm film or even a contact printer, but was made with rolls of 16mm perforated splicing tape and contact printed by the lab. If you look at images of the film strips, it is clear that the work was neither made with a contact printer (if it were, you would see frame lines breaking up the objects between sprockets) nor was it made with an optical printer, as the objects are life-sized at 16mm. Fred Camper is a much better source of information about Brakhage... he describes the film here:

Sara Bjarland
[edit]Sara Bjarland has a 2012 work named "Mothlight" (Mothlight), noticeably based on the homonymous movie formed by Brakhage.
