Milwaukee's German clubs?

[edit]

No mention here of the wonderful German and Hungarian polka clubs that existed in the city in the era 1910-1940? Surely the polka is Milwaukee's greatest gift to American music, and I dare say bands like the Bodeans, Violent Femmes, and Oil Taster were influenced by the ompa-ompa polka scene, in spirit if not lyrically. Why does Wikipedia always dwell on the modern and not reach deeply into a subject, in this case the rich, long musical tradition of Milwaukee? 207.158.40.127 (talk) 16:49, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
