Is Myrtos the same as or different than the Minoan settlement Myrtos-Pyrgos? -- Damate 31 January 2006
No, Myrtos is a modern village close to the Minoan settlement. Pyrgos lies on the top of a hill probably about a mile or so from Myrtos. --Hippalus 06:44, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Hippalus! Do I correctly understand that the Minoan site Myrtos-Pyrgos refers to Pyrgos? --Damate 1 February 2006
You're welcome. Yes, that's right. --Hippalus 13:17, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Pyrgos means water "spring" in Greek, and the site Myrtos-Pyrgos is a ten-minute walk from the village of Myrtos.
