Qualification is not appearance, and results sections cannot refer to the future[edit]

Copied from the talk page of Mr Hall of England:

While I acknowledge that you have reigned in some of your excesses in this article, I note that you still post mere fact of qualification, and therefore of invitation (but not definite participation) as equivalent to "appearance", and still post future events in a results section. This is illogical and unhelpful. Your failure to give any meaningful editnotes makes it impossible for others to consider what you might consider to be sufficient reason for such edits, and therefore presents no reason why they should not be reverted. You have also reverted totally ungrammatical mid-sentence capital letters. If you believe there to be a reason for the article to appear as you evidently prefer, please communicate that reason. If not, you have no grounds to complain if it is reverted. I hope you will choose to discuss rather than to editwar without any attempt to build consensus. While you have, contrary to your usual practice, given some sort of editnote, you have not answered any of the issues above. If you really have to ask what is wrong with describing qualification as an appearance, I would have to wonder whether your understanding of English is at a level that makes it appropriate for you to try to contribute to an English language encyclopaedia. Adding 2013[edit]

I think that the 2013 FIFA CC should be added to the page because we know who has qualified for 2013 now except CAF. Mr Hall of England (talk) 12:34, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That is irrelevant. This article does not document qualification, it documents appearances. Kevin McE (talk) 21:24, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Results for sitting World Cup champions[edit]

Can we have tables showing the performance of the sitting World Cup champion for each tournament? Also, in response to the "Confederations Cup Curse" remark that used to exist on the Confederations Cup page, how about a table showing the performance in the next World Cup for each team that won the Confederations Cup? Flag icons[edit]

The National team appearances in the FIFA World Cup page has adopted a cool system of using flags of countries in those "Results by Confederation" tables, under the 1st-4th place result sections, since only a maximum of one country can take first/second/third/fourth place. Can we do the same thing here? Simplebutpowerful 03:34, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
