Opening comments (from when the article's title was "Nevada State Route 805")

[edit]

I don't believe this highway is actually a Nevada State Route. The articles sited make no mention of Nevada DOT maintaining this road, and that it is being built by the TRI developers. I drove the entire length of the existing USA Parkway earlier this week, and saw no Nevada state route reassurance signs or white reference mileposts. Further, the NDOT State Maintained Highways Log does not list SR 805. If NDOT were to maintain this route, they would probably assign it into the primary (100-400) or secondary (500-600) series numbers instead of the tertiary (700-800) system, due to it's regional significance. Thus, I'd propose moving this article to "USA Parkway" and removing references to "Nevada State Route 805". Ljthefro (talk) 02:37, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shall we take this to Articles for deletion, then? TML (talk) 02:38, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Lijthefro, you are correct. This road is being built with private funds for the primary benefit of real estate developers. The state of Nevada wants nothing to do with it. see [1]. You are also correct that the official NDOT route log [2] makes no mention of a State route 805.Davemeistermoab (talk) 06:35, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I ended up moving the article to USA Parkway and redirecting NV SR 805 here just for the sake of keeping the information. I left the NV SR tag in the talk page box since WP:NVSH doesn't have a category for non-state routes. It seems that this road could end up being a significant link in the Nevada highway network, even though it isn't maintained by Nevada DOT. (A similar issue came up when I created the Summerlin Parkway article; it's a freeway in Las Vegas maintained by the City of Las Vegas.) --Ljthefro (talk) 07:05, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excerpts from a 2003 article

[edit]

Reno Gazette Journal, I-80 extension plans hit roadblock, April 18, 2003

A plan to link Interstate 80 at Tracy with US 50 at Silver Springs has run into an obstacle because Lyon County commissioners decided to sell the necessary land to the highest qualified bidder rather than sell directly to the Reno-Tahoe Business Park. Despite the setback, a consultant for the developer said Friday that progress continues on the proposed 14-mile roadway, which proponents believe will bring major economic benefits to northern Nevada and significantly reduce travel time. Vince Griffith, owner of Reno Engineering Corp., said he remains optimistic a route through the 102000-acre business park — the largest such center in North America — will become a reality within a few years. But on Thursday, Griffith was turned down in his request to acquire a portion of land needed to connect to US 50 west of Silver Springs. [...] Griffith said Friday that a lot of work has already been done on proposed State Route 805. "The road is a viable project and we intend to keep working on it," Griffith said. He said it's unknown who will pay for the roadway. Through 1997 state legislation, the Nevada Department of Transportation committed $1 million for the design of an interchange east of Tracy and a bridge across the railroad tracks at the north end of the industrial park.

Do you have a link to the original RGJ article, or a copy thereof? Their online archive doesn't seem to go back that far. Thanks! --Ljthefro (talk) 23:17, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have [4], but it's a dead link. --NE2 11:21, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
