Why is this an article?[edit]

Shouldn't this be a redirect to Manhattan? --ChrisRuvolo (t) 00:32, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It appears to now. -- Austin512 (talkcontribs) 22:31, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Although most of the discussion of Manhattan applies to New York County, the "redirect" fails to account for the fact that there are New York County officials distinct from Borough of Manhattan officials, particularly the District Attorney and County Clerk. Also, as noted in the Manhattan entry but inadequately explained, the Marble Hill neighborhood of New York County is located in the Borough of the Bronx -- making the two entities geographically non-identic. I'm not sure but some East River islands that may be part of one county may be in another borough also. Perhaps instead of a "redirect" the "New York County" entry should be a brief discussion of the remaining unique functions and borders of the county with a cross-reference to Manhattan for further information? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Petelynn (talkcontribs) 19:04, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
