We should give a special mention to the Drill Field being the oldest football ground of its time.--Vindicta 02:16, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well do it then buddy! Anonymous, 14:05, 10 December 2006.

Jon McCarthy[edit]

I have listed Jon McCarthy as Northern Irish as he won 18 caps for Northern Ireland despite being born in Middlesborough. Terry Butcher is considered as English despite being born in Singapore. Ram4eva 20:37, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree he is Northern Irish, but we seem to be in an editing war now - can anything be done? Pixie2000 23:01, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - I don't think it is an edit war as such. It seems to be nothing more than vandalism. The person who keeps changing to 'English' only seems to make negative contributions elsewhere. Maybe the article could be semi-protected? Ram4eva 12:43, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps so - not sure how you go about getting that done though!! Pixie2000 16:05, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well looking at the recent change made by Glass flat, semi-protecting the page did not work!! Pixie2000 00:37, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The user name was more than 4 days old. This poor individual has planned ahead with lots of sockpuppets. One account mouse 22 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is still not blocked and will be old enough before too long. Ram4eva 11:03, 7 January 2007 (UTC) I did request this account was blocked, but it wasn't. Ram4eva 11:03, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now blocked. Thanks Ram4eva 22:16, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This may be a stupid question, but does the fact that Jon McCarthy played for Northern Ireland PROVE that he is a Northern Irish citizen and has a Northern Irish passport? Enquiry 23:04, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Enquiry, Jon McCarthy like anybody born in the United Kingdom would have a British passport. As I wrote on Jon's page he was actually born in England. However, if you look around at other players such as Owen Hargreaves, Ben Thatcher, John Barnes or Terry Butcher, the actual place of birth isn't always the same as the country played for. It seems to be the convention on Wikipedia that if a player has played international football, then the country played for is the relevent one. If you look back through the much disrupted history of the page the squad list was added by someone probably from Poland who probably would be unaware of Jon's international career. Welcome to Wikipedia by the way.Ram4eva 16:20, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Two months later, this still seems to be happening, several times a day, with a different single-purpose account used each time. - fchd 14:16, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well unless the user brings some sort of argument they are being treated as a banned user for this blatant abuse of wikipedia policies, and they are being blocked on sight. Not much to worry about - just some person without a life. Cowman109Talk 22:24, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am pretty sure that s/he has been replied to about why the N. Irish flag is correct, see above Enquiry has only ever asked the question above so draw your own conclusions. Ram4eva 12:51, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    • It's still going on, the user using one of their aliases and then a couple of random IP address has been changing McCarthy's nationality again and blanking my user page and user talk page. Shame, because if he/she came here we could have a rational discussion with them about their interpretation of McCarthy's nationality. - fchd 20:22, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • Blanked mine and a few others who've been reverting the vandalism as well. Now the anon IP has been blocked I hope that stops the random aliases for a while as well. WikiGull 08:08, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Protected[edit]

As some user has been disrupting this article for some time, I have full protected it for a while as otherwise changes have not been made to the article. If something should be changed, please discuss it here and I'll add it to the article. Cowman109Talk 22:14, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be possible to add to Tony Gallimore that he has been loaned to Hucknall Town. Does anybody know James Beaumont's squad number? Ram4eva 13:56, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have made the page User:Cowman109/Northwich_Victoria_F.C. for any changes that you'd like to make to this article. Just go ahead and make any changes there and I'll history merge the two pages so that it is GFDL compliant. I'm not familiar with the subject of the article so I wouldn't know how to include such information as you said above to it :D. Cowman109Talk 23:18, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit change[edit]

Please could an admin make an amendment to the template at the bottom of this page? The template, which I believe is called {{Football|Non-League=yes_Conference}} needs to be replaced with the following:

{{fb start}}
{{Football|Non-League=yes Conference}}
{{fb end}}

Cheers!!! ChrisTheDude 21:01, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Cowman109Talk 23:11, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please could someone remove Mark Sale as he has left the club and also Danny Mayman is back off loan. Ram4eva 19:13, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is that correct? Cowman109Talk 04:04, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good to me. Thanks Ram4eva 07:10, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Further edit changes[edit]

Can the following players be unlinked from the squad list please (as apparently not notable according to usual criteria): Richard Battersby, Kieran Charnock, Danny Mayman and Ben Connett. Also can the link for Michael Byrne be changed to Michael Byrne (footballer born 1985). Finally, soccerbase has Terry Barwick and Mark Roberts (footballer born 1983) as squad members. Not sure if this is true, but if someone knows this for certain, can they also be added to squad. Thanks WikiGull 09:10, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've updated the squad template having done some digging. Please could the squad list be updated in line. Thanks Ram4eva 16:54, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the first line where it says that NVFC are based in Wincham, Northwich, Cheshire please will you put double-square-brackets around "Wincham". There is a relevant article of that name. Thanks. Anonymous, 19:50, 26 February 2007. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.128.235.82 (talkcontribs)

{{editprotected}} Smith and Warburton are numbers 22 and 23 respectively according the BBC, please could they be added. I haven't found a squad number for Walker. Gallimore is back on loan at Hucknall Town F.C. again. Thanks Ram4eva 18:23, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I temporarily semi-protected the page so the requested changes can be made. I'll full-protect again afterwards. Cowman109Talk 22:11, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've made my changes Thanks Ram4eva 16:21, 4 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

And re-protected :D. Cowman109Talk 22:27, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone change the Richard Walker link to Richard Walker (footballer born 1980), please? Richard Walker (footballer) is a redirect to this page, but needs to changed, either as a redirect to Richard Walker (disambiguation), or to a football-specific dab page. ArtVandelay13 21:05, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Cowman109Talk 16:52, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

{{editprotected}}

Steve Burr is no longer manager [1] Ram4eva 07:20, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's debateable. From NVFC official website (www.northwichvics.co.uk)

"STATEMENT FROM MIKE CONNETT – CHAIRMAN (NVFC). TUESDAY 22ND MAY 2007.

I can confirm Steve Burr is contracted as Manager of Northwich Victoria Football Club (2004) Ltd and is still employed by the above Club.

No further comment.

I've disabled the editprotected request after having reduce the article protection to semi-protection. Cheers. --MZMcBride 20:10, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Grobelaar[edit]

Shouldn't the fact that Bruce Grobelaar played for Victoria be mentioned in the article?WILLKW 19:54, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I suggest that the following sentence be included (wherever is most appropriate). I haven't checked the accuracy of the Bruce Grobbelaar article; I have lifted the following detail from it:

Bruce Grobbelaar, goalkeeper for Liverpool Football Club during the 1980s and former national goalkeeper for Zimbabwe, made 24 appearances for Northwich Victoria during the late 1990s.
