Meaning of "Trollstigen". It's a common misconception that "stigen" refers to "ladder" ("stige" in Norwegian), in stead it refers to "path/footpath" ("stig" or "sti" in Norwegian). The older road was called "Kløvstigen" ("Horse pack road") as it was so narrow that goods were transported on horse back only. - Regards 80.212.76.42 (talk) 20:55, 8 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
