Seems rather short from a glance compared to other album articles, but I'll look deeper. Expect comments within one or two weeks. Snuggums (talk / edits) 19:00, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
Infobox
[edit]- "Folk rock" isn't supported within the article
- "Artist Direct" → Artistdirect
Lead
[edit]- See above note on Artistdirect
- "music critics" is a commonly recognized term and doesn't need to be linked per WP:OVERLINK
- "and that her writing skills were underrated" seems like it's missing "felt" right before "that"
Background
[edit]- The quote on poetry should come after the "she said about being inspired to write songs", and I'd try something like "she said of the tracks"
- this doesn't indicate It's a Man's World was her 21st album, so let's find another citation to establish album count for that as well as Believe and maybe
- "described the content of the album as being" → "described the album's content as"
- There was only one "Golden Ticket", not three
- No need to mention Mattel
- The quote is "bitter ballad", not "yearning ballad"
Composition
[edit]- I'm not so sure it's necessary to state track count in here; that's what tracklist sections are for
- "'Runnin is described by the singer as her 'in a nutshell, isn't it!'." needs a citation
- The source used for "With or Without You" and "Fit to Fly" doesn't support any of the assertions you've listed except for saluting soldiers, but I did find some support here for the "late-'80s" bit included on "Fit to Fly"
- The description for "Disaster Cake" could use something more specific, namely what Cher was saying about this past girlfriend
- I made a slight adjustment to fit a full quote
Reception
[edit]- Only three reviews? Even for something that didn't have a commercial release (hence its title), this seems rather short.
- "not.com.mercial received positive reviews from music critics" is a violation of WP:SYNTH without a citation specifically supporting this assertion; you can't just form a conclusion solely based on a few samples.
- "rated the album as B−" → "gave the album a B− rating"
- "sullen, mid-tempo bunch, modestly hooky at best" actually applies to the album's tracks as a whole, not just the Cobain tribute
Controversy
[edit]- Sgt. Pepper's needs to be italicized as it is an album
- "she wanted to be a nun when she attended Catholic school as a child, and said she has known" is blatantly plagiarized from MTV; absolutely unacceptable
Track listing
[edit]- While it might be harder to do without an iTunes release, this section does need a citation, particularly for the song durations
Personnel
[edit]- AllMusic says that Bruce Roberts and Cher were composers, not producers
References
[edit]- See above note on Artistdirect
- "Detriot Metro Times" → Metro Times
- I'm not sure if "The Daily Vault" is a good source to use
Overall
[edit]- Prose: Copyright violations are an automatic fail, and other parts could also use work
- Referencing: One questionable source, and many instances of text not being supported by given citations
- Coverage: One song description and perhaps the "reception" section as a whole could use more development. Given the "Golden ticket" contest in the album's copies, is anything available on sales even if it was a really low figure? I would also indicate whether Cher promoted this album at all.
- Neutrality: As far as I can tell, this is free of bias
- Stability: Seems fine to me
- Media: Album cover has an appropriate FUR
- Verdict: Sorry, but I'm failing this without putting it on hold mainly due to prose and referencing issues. It could also probably be expanded somewhat, even if there's only a limited amount of material available on this compared to her other work. Better luck next time.
