Cälil

[edit]

Should the opera really link to Musa Cälil? Although he may be the subject of the opera, his article does not even mention the Cihanov opera named after him.Nrswanson (talk) 20:47, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The name

[edit]

Also is this really the most appropriate title for the article? This is an English encyclopedia and in English his name is usually printed as Nazib Zhiganov. Is there a precedent for foreign names that have been transliterated into English? Also this article doesn't even clearly give the English transliteration, a fact that should be remedied.Nrswanson (talk) 20:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In sources I have used, the current transcription was used. In fact, this transcription was developed only in 2000, so, possibly, in the earliest editions it was used transliteration from Russian (it is also given). Any way, I have placed all possible variations of his name and redirects though them. The current spelling represent the Tatar one.--Üñţïf̣ļëŗ (see also:ә? Ә!) 05:21, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
