Origin of name[edit]

I removed the claim that the name is of Huguenot origin and replaced it with English. The book cited by Malvern Hill (1950) on pages 14−16, under the section "Who are we anyhow?", has several theories suggesting that the name could be of Spanish, east Indian, or related to the prince of a Cavalier family - but concludes that all known records at the time suggest English origin. Until other reliable sources are provided that state otherwise I suggest leaving it as English origin. BaomoVW (talk) 04:59, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I again reverted the edit to comply with MOS:CITE. There are several theories about the origin of the name I mentioned previously but I haven't found any verifiable reference beyond the 1950 Malvern Hill book which only covers early American origin. If you can find some references to support the early origin theories please add them. BaomoVW (talk) 06:23, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
