Orel Hershiser

[edit]

I was looking for info on the pitcher Orel Hershiser, didn't know how to spell his surname, and so searched for "orel". No mention on disambig, so I added it, because I figured others might do the same. Later, I noticed from the edit history that Hershiser was previously added and removed from this disambiguation page. Ezhiki commented in his removal, "we generally do not disambiguate by first names"... I respect the convention, but I think a notable but unusual name is a worthy exception. — Demong talk 09:18, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This was a vessel engaged to the Russian American Company involved in the Dryad Incident recounted on the Fort Stikine article. Although the Orel is not mentioned in this article its companion vessel the Chichagof (brig) IS. In the absence of other cites, though I know it's out there that the Orel was a similar vessel, I've dabbed it as "brig", it may be that Russian brig Orel is the proper title, given the other ships mentioned here? The other source I know if calls it the Oryol but that redirects here anyway. The other mention I think is here or here.Skookum1 (talk) 02:35, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
