[edit]This page sounds like advertising for this company. PIK is known throughout Moscow (and other places unfortunate enough to know them) as a company that uses strong-arm tactics, including hiring bandits to attack anyone who opposes their construction projects. They level quality-built brick housing stock from the Soviet era and replace it with low-quality housing that fits 3/4 times as many people into the same area, for example by placing 20-30 story structures in places where there used to be 5 story Khrushchevkas and Stalinkas. They are strongly tied to the mayor's office, and seem to use these connections to lobby their projects through, for example the 'renovatsiya' (renovation) campaign, which goes like this: a) government pays company to build new housing and resettle residents; b) since they build highrises in places where there used to be lowrises, the company is able to literally 'make money out of thin air.'
The company uses unskilled Central Asian migrant workers, and there is a trend to underpay them or force them to work in extremely difficult and unsafe conditions. In my neighborhood, the company has cut down thousands of trees to fit its giant box buildings in places where there used to be small apartment blocks. Finally, I know of at least one case of the company ignoring geological safety studies to build in an area near an underground river. I honestly don't know what will be of the buildings built by PIK in 20-30 years' time, and fear that the city will become filled with either 'ghettoized' neighborhoods (in some places that has already happened) or with crumbling highrises. 2A00:1370:8178:263E:18DE:E256:BD5E:7EC9 (talk) 18:46, 16 November 2022 (UTC)
