I am giving this an independent status. Ultimately, a disambiguation shall be required. --Bhadani 13:45, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have created a suitable disambiguation page, and this page should reflect about Padma, a term finding innumerable reference in Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhist texts. Accordingly, I am placing appropriate contents by way of a stub to present reality associated with this term as Padma River already has an appropriate page with a suitable page name. --Bhadani 13:54, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By the way User:Ragib has created the redirection link, I would request him to give his comments. --Bhadani 13:57, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A disambig page sounds just fine. Padma is perhaps the most notable river in Bangladesh ... so I had this redirect to Padma River. I'm not familiar with the religious significance, but anyone familiar with it is free to add that here. By the way, Padma, when it comes to referring the river, is pronounced: pad-maaa. Another term, pronounced Pad-mow, means lotus, an entirely different word. I guess the references you mention belong to the 2nd term. Unfortunately, the standard english spelling is the same for both the river and lotus, so a disambig page should clear this up. Thanks. --Ragib 17:45, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I mean the 2nd term. "Padma is perhaps the most notable river in Bangladesh" - in fact, it is the most notable. The river is important for Indians also, as it is associated with Ganges River. Use of the term Ganga-Padma in Bengal is very common. In view of this, I had not immediately disturbed the redirection, as the redirection was looking fine. I will create a Padma{disambiguation) page, and as regards the 2nd term I shall name the page as Padma (mythology). --Bhadani 12:30, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
