The need for update

[edit]

Hello Mr. August. You reverted my first efforts. I thought I was going to be on this alone, but I guess not. That's fine. It means I cannot develop the article further online as you monitoring me line by line is not going to work. So basically I guess you have not yet encountered Hans Lohmann. He makes a good case that Panionium is not where formerly thought and not where this article and a few others says it is, and some of the maps show it. Lohmann's work, which is archaeological, finds archaeological problems with the lowland location and has another location in higher ground, more befitting to Herodotus. He also has another location for Melia. This view is finding favor. He did his work in the 2000's. Where does that leave us? Well, I believe we need to present both views in three or four articles. I was hoping to avoid repetition by getting it right starting here. But of course, there would be extensive changes to this article. By your reversion you are in essence demanding the whole thing at once. All right. Can't give it to you right now. I will have to work it up in sand space or offline and dump it in complete with references. This puts it a little lower in my priority list. I'll be starting somewhere else. Meanwhile, why don't you bring yourself up to speed on the developments? A good place to start is Lohmann's article "Survey of Mycale (Dilek Daglari), 3rd Campaign: the discovery of the Archaic Panionion." I think you will find it very professional and will I hope bring you up to speed. Meanwhile thank you for your concern and for reminding me that development online is not always the best approach. Sorry to have stepped on your toes. Yes please do update this article. And I don't think it needs to be done all done at once (which is how I interpret your work it up in sand space or offline and dump it in complete with references. You could instead add content in parts, as long as it's well-sourced. Paul August 14:20, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. All right. Right now I'm working on the other articles, but some of that work will be applicable here. Ciao. Botteville (talk) 16:46, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Buona fortuna (or should I say in bocca al lupo?) ;-) Paul August 18:13, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
