last paragraph is misleading
[edit]It does not accomplish what it claims to do. It presents statistics that a majority of the COUNTY voted in favor of the freeway. But that does not prove that a majority of CITY voters approved of it. Since the current county population is over 1/3 suburban, it is certainly possible that suburbanites approved it by a wide margin, while city voters opposed it slightly (and perhaps voters in the neighborhood voted against it heavily).
True, one can glean from the numbers that there probably was not a strong majority opposing the freeway. But better voting statistics would clarify this point. (Also, this leaves aside a different point; that the national mood turned from one promoting new freeways through urban areas, to one reluctant to build them. Even if voters approved the project in 1974, they likely felt different by 2002.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by G34j (talk • contribs) 02:15, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with this comment, and since no one has challenged it in the last three years and I don't have better statistics or text to replace it with, I'm removing the last paragraph completely. Hungry Charlie (talk) 18:47, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
