Other Turkish minority parties in South-Eastern Europe

[edit]

Someone repeatedly tried to insert in this list a Turkish settlers party in the part of Cyprus occupied by Turkey -> 1) Does Cyprus geographically belong to 'South-Eastern Europe' ? 2) If so, all Turkish parties in Cyprus are 'Turkish minority parties in South-Eastern Europe' as pre-1974 Cyprus, the only internationally recognized state in this island, had indeed a native Turkish minority 3) Can settlers from an occupying country seriously be considered as a 'minority' in the occupied territory, be it in Cyprus, in Palestine or anywhere else ? --Minorities observer (talk) 17:21, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

1) Cyprus is regarded as a part of Europe because of the ethnological links. 2) Native Turkish Cypriot people are not a minority, they are one of the two equal communities under the Republic of Cyprus (1960) Constitution. Turkish Cypriots are separated from Turkish people during the 16th Century. It is more accurate to claim that Australians are British, than claiming that Turkish Cypriot people are Turkish. Even though there are some links, most of the similarities amongst them developed after 1963. Still, both parties show big difference in their culture, language, beliefs etc. 3) Yes, these people are in (North) Cyprus for over 40 years and three generations. They had many different political parties before to protect the "interests" of people with Turkish background. This is a similar approach held in other countries, too. --Sportscorrection (talk) 17:09, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Your 'arguments' are preposterous: 1) 'the ethnological links' is a meaningless expression, 2) Native Turkish Cypriots have always been a minority in Cyprus before the 1974 Turkish invasion and military occupation, 3) Turkish minorities parties in Greece, Bulgaria, Romania etc. wish to represent the interests of native Turkish/Turkified minorities, not of settlers or migrants, 4) parties of Turkish settlers in Cyprus have more in common, even if the situations are clearly different, with the West European Turkish migrants parties DENK, NBZ, ADD, BIG, PEJ, 5) I unfollow this article and won't read further nonsensical bad faith 'arguments' from you. --Minorities observer (talk) 08:37, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
